“¿Quiénes son?”

Oaxacan hip hop crew Juchirap has gained acclaim as one of Mexico’s up and coming acts, earning praise for their old-school rhythms and performances in their native Diidxazá (Zapotec) language.

Shot on location near Juchitán de Zaragoza, the music video “¿Quiénes son?” is the first ArtsEverywhere-supported project produced by the Arte Transistmica team in Oaxaca. Filmed by Damián Lopez and edited by Roberto Olivares, the video showcases Juchirap, a young hip-hop crew from the Isthmus of Tehuantepec performing one of their songs in their element.

The Arte Transistmica team would like to express gratitude to Victor Terán for graciously appearing in the music video and performing one of his poems, and to Lukas Avendaño, the inimitable Juchiteco performance artist, for appearing in the film. Stay tuned for more Arte Transistmica projects throughout 2021.
