
Feygeles & Shabbos
Shterna Goldbloom presents two series of photographs that make visible queer Yiddish life and the weekly ritual of Shabbos.
Shterna Goldbloom (b. 1992 American) received their MFA from Rhode Island School of Design (2019). They are an artist, curator, community member, and educator in Chicago, IL. Their photography has been exhibited at EXPOChicago, the RISD Museum, ClampArt Gallery, and in the Mint Museum. They are the grateful recipient of many prizes including the RISD Museum Dorner Prize, HBI Artist Program, Yetzirah Fellowship (x2), the Hahnemühle Award, Creators of Culture Grant, and scholarships from Anderson Ranch Arts Center, Columbia College Chicago, and Rhode Island School of Design. Their work can be seen in Lilith Magazine, Hyperallergic, In Geveb, V1, and Judisk Krönika. Shterna has also been teaching for many years and is currently an adjunct professor at Brandeis University.
