marina murta (they/them) was born in 1990 in the city of fortaleza, in the brazilian state of ceará.
marina dedicates themself to conjurations in body, sound, and image and to researching, handling, and learning from medicinal and liturgical plants through agro-ecological perspectives of caring for the Earth.
as a historian and artist, they write about contemporary latin american art and its intersections with eco-politics, the environment, and socio-environmental justice.
marina is trained in agro-ecology through Serta – pernambuco, and holds a b.a. in art history from the federal university of rio de janeiro (UFRJ). currently, they are working toward an m.a. in visual arts at the federal university of Pernambuco (UFPE), and working as a researcher for the Brazilian Association of Agro-Ecology (ABA) on a project entitled “Construction of Free Territories: Women and Their Arable Backyards in the Combat of the Use of Chemical Pesticides and reference to Agroecology.”

atualmente é mestrande em artes visuais (UFPE) e pesquisador da Associação Brasileira de Agroecologia no projeto “Construção de Territórios Livres: mulheres e seus quintais produtivos no combate ao uso de agrotóxicos e referência à Agroecologia”.
