Corcuera is an artist, writer, journalist and researcher, whose practices are a contribution to the new ways of storytelling in the XXI century. Her pieces and research are connected to social transformation, nature, and dissident bodies, with a commitment to joy. She combines different tools coming from situated journalism, physical theatre, dance, semiotic, and audiovisual narratives. She has a degree in Journalism from the Universidad Complutense (Madrid), and an MA in Semiotics of mass communication, with the thesis The scene as a tool of sociopolitical dynamization. Currently Corcuera is Artist researcher of The Círculo de Bellas Artes de Madrid (Spain), Mary Curie Grant Arts REVFAIL Project with LA CAÌDA / A QUEDA Project (2022-2024), and director of Colab La Perereka (@laperereka), an independent studio near the centre of Rio de Janeiro (Brasil). As a performer and writer, she has been studying the role of embodied storytelling and performing narratives for the past 20 years. She participated in the student movement and squatting movements in the late ‘90s and early ‘00s in Madrid, Brussels, and Rome. Corcuera has also learned from social theatre collectives in El Salvador and Guatemala, rural communities in the mountains of Madrid, and ecofeminist movements throughout Europe. She has collaborated with dozens of artists, activists, and collectives in cities such as Barcelona, Madrid, Athens, Berlin, Strasbourg, São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, New York, Chicago, and Toronto.
