hugo-huga x tibiriçá

i am hugo-huga x tibiriçá (no pronouns / they / them), an interdisciplinary artist, artistic researcher, somatic practitioner &  workshop facilitator born and raised in rio de janeiro, brazil, of european, middle-eastern, north-african and indigenous from the americas ancestry. i identify myself as a queer, trans-, non-binary and migrant from a colonized land, with an experience of displacement and exile from my homeland to another continent to survive—with brazil being the country that kills the most lgbtqi+ people in the world. since 2020 i have been developing an interdisciplinary art-research project called “rituals for the anthropocene – the human-dominated planet”—a series of 13 impromptu video-rituals to encounter and metabolize the systemic, historical, modern-colonial, ecological and ongoing violences of the human-dominated planet stored in our own bodies and nervous systems. as a somatic practitioner working with trauma(tic charge) stored in the body, i allow my work with trauma to also inform and inspire my artistic practices and processes. i currently live in berlin, germany.
