Edmund White

Edmund White is the ground-breaking author of more than thirty books, including the earliest mainstream books about gay sex and the gay and lesbian communities of North America (in the early 1970s), and more than a dozen novels, mostly focused on gay life, that have won major prizes in many nations and languages. In 2016 he was appointed as the “state author” of New York, where he lives with his husband, the writer Michael Carroll, in New York City. His most recent novel, A Saint From Texas (2020), is also available from Bloomsbury. (Photo credit: Marion Ettlinger.)
